Junior Duke Award

All children from Reception to Year 6 have the opportunity to work towards achieving a Junior Duke Award.  This is the first year we have undertaken this award and we are very excited to celebrate the children’s achievements.

The award works to encourage independence, confidence, resilience and self-motivation.  It is aimed at helping children from the age of 5 to 11 to learn and practise a large variety of life skills.  Each level of the award has a selection of challenges and, in order to complete a level, the children need to finish a pre-determined number of these successfully. These include skills such as First Aid, ICT, Eco-awareness, Drama, Music, Sport and other life skills such as cookery, household tasks and fixing things.  The children complete the challenges at home and we encourage support from friends and family to support them.  Not only will children acquire new skills but they will also have the opportunity to challenge themselves and try new things; gaining a well-earned sense of achievement along the way.
