Junior Duke Award

Children in Key Stage 2 have the opportunity to complete the Junior Duke Award for their year group.  They complete tasks to support them achieving the award within school as part of an extra-curricular club, as well as at home with their families.

The award works to encourage independence, confidence, resilience and self-motivation.  It is aimed at helping children from the age of 7 to 11 to learn and practise a large variety of life skills.  Each level of the award has a selection of challenges and, in order to complete a level, the children need to finish a pre-determined number of these successfully. These include skills such as First Aid, ICT, Eco-awareness, Drama, Music, Sport and other life skills such as cookery, household tasks and fixing things.  The children complete the challenges at home and we encourage support from friends and family to support them.  Not only will children acquire new skills but they will also have the opportunity to challenge themselves and try new things; gaining a well-earned sense of achievement along the way.

Here are some of our children who have completed tasks for their Junior Duke award.
